Affresh | Crowdtap
I am so excited about this review! I've been completing missions with crowdtap.com which is really awesome btw. I was lucky enough to be accepted to review some products made by Affresh.
What They do
They provide cleaning products for various home appliances. They have a wide variety and are recommended by Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, and Kitchen-Aid.
They provide cleaners for specific items instead of "All Purpose Cleaners".
Products include but not limited to: Coffee Maker Cleaner, Washer Cleaner, Dishwasher Cleaner, Garbage Disposal Cleaner, and more.
Products for the outside they provide: Stainless Steel Cleaner, Cooktop Cleaner, and Stainless Steel Wipes.
Now that you know what they do. Let me express my excitement while I tell you how they actually work!
I received 3 packages of cleaners. One for Coffee Maker, Dishwasher, and Garbage Disposal. A thank you to Crowdtap.com for that!
I tried the Coffee Maker Cleaner first. I followed the directions precisely as they were listed for reviewing purposes mostly. I wanted to be sure to use all of these according to the directions.
The directions call for one cup makers is to fill the tank, insert tablet, and run 2 cycles. Dump the remaining water and refill tank with fresh water to run 2 more cycles.
You can see the tablet dissolving in my tank. I own a Keurig. You can see the calcium build up too from where I wash my tank with sink water! I did not realize this until I took this photo.
I live in a small town with not so great water. After going through like 4 coffee pots in a matter of a couple years I quit putting town water in my pots. I solely use bottled water for my Keurig machine. But I do wash my tank on the occasion. Amazing the water could leave this look when I don't use it for brewing just cleaning!
I thought I was taking very great care of my Keurig machine by using bottled water and was confident it was CLEAN.
These are my results!! I was mortified to see the stuff that came out of my "clean" Keurig!!
I can tell you I will be buying these. I'm amazed by the clear liquid that came out after the cleaning. Coffee is dark and there is no way you can possibly see all of that in your coffee...
The one thing I wanted to mention was that the directions tell you to run 2 cycles after cleaning. I recommend doing a few more just to make sure it is well rinsed. I did the two cycles and brewed a cup of coffee. It tasted weird and bitter so I dumped it and rinsed the machine 3 more times just to be on the safe side and then tried another cup of coffee. After a total of 5 rinses my coffee tasted normal again.
I tried the Dishwasher Cleaner next. Let me just say that I've never owned a dishwasher before and I got this one about 4 months ago. I was so excited! We have 6 people in our household and I was thrilled thinking that this was going to be the best thing ever to save me time so I can spend more time with my 4 kids.
That is NOT how owning a dishwasher had turned out for me. As I stated before our town water is full of calcium and is just kind of cruddy. You have to love living in Rural areas.
I had my dishwasher for about a month when I started to notice white build up on my plasticware and speckles on my glassware. It has caused a lot more work then I thought when I first started using a dishwasher! I had to double check all of my dishes to make sure they are clean and not covered in white film. It was time consuming and awful... majority of the time I had to rewash some of the dishes.
I used my Affresh tab which stated on the label to either run the dishwasher without dishes and place tab in the detergent door or with dishes and put in the bottom of the dishwasher. I ran the tab through and when I checked my dishes they were sparkling!! It was like when I first started using it! <3 The gross white film was gone and the white film that covered the the heating element was also gone. I was in total shock and couldn't believe it. I had previously tried CLR and wiped the inside clean which didn't solve my problem.
I had used CLR in a coffee pot once and it ruined it so I never ran CLR through the dishwasher. I had only tried to let it sit on the heating element and the inside to rid the calcium build up. Dishwashers are much more expensive then a coffee pot and I'm personally not willing to risk that in a new dishwasher!
It was really difficult to take a photo of my before and after but they results were awesome! I am absolutely going to be purchasing this! It has saved me so much time that I can spend with my kids instead of rewashing dishes that should have been clean...
Last I tried the Garbage Disposal Cleaner.
You can see it working! It worked the same way as the one for the coffee maker. It bubbled, fizzed, and you could see the foam. The directions call for you to run hot water and run your disposal. Once I was finished and had rinsed away all of the foam I could smell the citrus scent. It really killed the nasty no no smell in my sink!
I am going to be waiting to see how long it takes for the smell to come back before I decide how long or if I'm going to be using this product again. I have a good feeling I will be but we shall see. The other products were great so I kind of expect the same of this one.
I want to give a special thank you to crowdtap.com for these products to test and review. If you would like to read more reviews, information on these products, or purchase yourself please click the photo above.
